CAAB Report 127 |
Tuesday 20 July 2004
Once again Lindis was arrested for allegedly being in breach of bail
conditions imposed by Harrogate Magistrates' Court at the weekly Tuesday
evening demonstration organised by CAAB. She was suddenly arrested
by PC Simpson of the Ministry of Defence Police Agency (MDPA) and
taken to Harrogate Police Station accompanied by PC Devlin (MDPA). Lindis
was not in breach of the bail conditions.
The Custody Officer at Harrogate Police Station refused to accept the
detention of Lindis because the two officers had not taken a copy of the
bail conditions with them and a copy could not be produced by anyone
at USAF Menwith Hill. She was immediately released.
On Tuesday 27 July 2004 there will be an application to
Harrogate Magistrates' Court to vary the bail conditions imposed on
Lindis so that these spurious arrests are stopped.
On the same day there will also be a pre-trial review involving Anni and
Lindis re an alleged 'obstruction of the highway' at USAF Menwith Hill
in May.
Lindis will also be in court for a pre-trial review for two alleged
offences of being in breach of s.69 'aggravated trespass' (Criminal
Justice and Public Order Act 1994). She had to attend 'police
bail' on Tuesday this week and was again charged under s.69. These
cases all arise out of incidents involving the 'yellow line' during the
Tuesday evening protests. At the trials of these cases Anni and
Lindis will be challenging the legality of the 'yellow line' at USAF
Menwith Hill.
