Tuesday 10 January 2006

Lindis Percy was arrested at the weekly Tuesday evening demonstration for allegedly obstructing the highway.  She was arrested by Paul Skinner (PC Ministry of Defence Police Agency) who also told her that the arrest was  'for her own and others safety'. (under s.24 Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 as amended by the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005).  She was later charged by Andrew Tiffany (Custody Sergeant at Harrogate Police Station) for alleged 'obstruction of the highway' and released from custody with the following bail conditions:

You will not approach within fifteen metres of the MOD boundary at RAF Menwith Hill as defined by the perimeter fences, hedgerows and gates, and to include the yellow line painted on the ground outside the Main Gate;  except to traverse these roads in a vehicle without stopping unless to comply with traffic lights or the directions of Police Officers.

An application to Harrogate Magistrates' Court to vary these bail conditions will be made by Lindis on Monday 16 January 2006 at 12 md.

Since the outcome of the appeal at York Crown Court by Lindis Percy, the Ministry of Defence Police Agency at NSA Menwith Hill have significantly changed their tactics and policy towards protestors at the weekly Tuesday evening demonstration.  The MDPA have become more confrontational, aggressive and we say, unreasonable.  Effective protest is clearly not allowed.
